I have rewritten the words to the popular Brahm’s Lullaby (Cradle Song, Wiegenlied) to fit my specific experience tonight. Here goes:
Go to sleep,
little creep.
Go to sleep now my baby.
I’m so tired -
you seem wired -
from another day of play.
My brain is fried
and I’ve tried
all the tricks in my baggie.
It’s one a.m. -
we’re here again.
No wonder Mommy’s gone so gray.
Just hum the tune and try to make the words work. It’s a close enough fit, given the current state of my brain! Arrrrrgh.
