Never This Pretty

I helped oldest daughter H14 get ready for a church dance tonight. I lucked out and found an adorable black and purple print dress at Walmart for only $11 on clearance, and she borrowed a flat iron from a friend. We spent about an hour and a half on her very curly hair! But it turned out GREAT! If you know her and know her hair, then you’ll know what a dramatic difference this is.

Seriously, I was NEVER this pretty as a young woman!!!

    I am so jealous. I can’t flat iron my hair. The curls just get frizzy in the humidity. I hope she had a great time at the dance.

    We’ve tried to do this before – just once – and it didn’t come out as well. It’s hard to commit so much time if you’re not sure it will “stick.” I can’t believe it, but it’s held up for days. Now it’s time to come back to earth and wash the hair!!! :) sn

    Thank you! Oh, the dress was just to die for! I think they might call it a “shirt dress”? Because the bodice has a collar and fits closely like a blouse, the waist is cinched (which is perfect for this teensy daughter of mine!), and the the skirt is full, almost a-line. And this print had giant black/purple/white hibiscus flowers all over it. Just darling! :) sn

    SERIOUSLY…yes, you WERE this pretty as a young woman! It’s a shame we never realize how “pretty” we “are” until years later when we look at old pictures!! Stacey…you were always a beautiful girl!! But, I have to say, your oldest is a beauty!! What makes her extra beautiful is that her soul is just as sweet and beautiful!! Her hair looks AWESOME!!     OH…it would be funny to find a picture of me at 14 and do some kind of split-screen. I can guarantee my hair wasn’t as cute, and I KNOW my waist wasn’t as tiny! She looked so gorgeous! Her hair did turn out great, but I’m ready to get back to the curls! :) sn

    Stunning on the outside!! Beautiful on the inside!! She’s the coolest kid and I’m blessed to be friends with her!! She told me she thinks you’re pretty awesome!! She was telling me about straitening it, but said, “Well actually my mom did cuz she is so nice and amazing.” :D

    That’s right (::puff puff on my fingernails and wiping them on my shirt::), I’m awesome! ;) It was a fun bit of time to spend with her. Thanks for being someone she loves and trusts! :) sn

    She looks great! It’s fun to have hair that can *mix it up a little* and good for you mom for helping. My arms get tired just thinking about all that straightening

    More than my arms being sore, you know what troubled me the most? The SMOKE coming from her hair!! Can you say “moisturize!”? Some of the hair literally burned off during the process. Oops…you mean that’s not supposed to happen?! :) sn
