Don't Read This if You're Sleepy

(*first of all…scroll down or go to this post to see the new-and-improved versions of the digital scrapbook pages I did for my son’s birthday.  aren’t they just waaaaay better than before?*)

This post will probably bore the pants off most (all?) of you.  If I weren’t so excited about what I’m learning, I’d be boring myself, too!

Happy Are We seems in danger of becoming a “photo blog” lately, doesn’t it?  That’s because we’ve been borrowing our friend’s Canon PowerShot S5 IS, and I’m in love!  What an amazing camera!!  I still haven’t figured out all the bells and whistles, and there are maybe two or three things that I’m having to get used to, but altogether, it’s been wonderful!  My favorite part:  it’s incredibly intuitive.  All the things you think should be in certain places ARE in certain places.  And it takes awesome video, too.  Oh, it’s been so fun!

Some of you asked if I took the pictures of my children in the previous post.  Yes, I did.  And I’m not particularly talented, I just think my kids are pretty cute and this camera is really great.  Good combination = great pictures!

With all these pictures I’ve been taking, I’ve been dabbling in digital scrapbooking again.  I managed to corrupt a file in my Microsoft Picture It program, so I went to the web in hopes of finding something new.  You know, something a little more 21st century.  Did you know that you can download a 30day free trial of Adobe’s Photoshop Elements 6?  And that you can watch all sorts of tutorials on how to use it at YouTube?  Who knew!  I’ve been too chicken to use anything with the word “Photoshop” in it because it seems so intimidating.  It’s true that it can be a little complicated, but boy howdy, it’s about 10,000 times better than any image editing software I’ve used before!

Finally, although I did buy my first digital scrapbooking kit the other night (for a grand total of $3.49), while surfing around, I feel like I hit another mother lode in free resources.  The website Digital Scrapbooking GiRLs combs the web FOR you and assembles all the latest free kits in ONE EASY PLACE.  Sweet!  Go to the link for their page to see the latest offerings.

So if you’ve been considering getting into digital scrapbooking, and you’ve already got the great camera, you can now get free software and free kits to get you going.  Now all you need is FREE TIME!  (ha!)

Thanks for the tips…I’ll have to check them out…digital scrapbooking is definitely on my to do list for free time…but i haven’t had any of that in a while.

Yeah, my time isn’t so much free as much as it’s “you’ll be paying for this later!” :) sn

Blah! Now all I need is a way to download the stuff b/c Shabby Princess does not work for me at all. I like to blame it on the fact that we have Vista. Which I hate. If that’s not the reason maybe you can give me some tips. ;) I have the photos, I need the stuff! I envy your pages. They look awesome!

I wonder if I got all the stuff assembled on a CD if you could use it then? Maybe it’s just a downloading issue? Let’s chat! sn
