Wow, that blog break was good for me. Thanks for hanging in there.
Baby’s sleep is still “iffy” during the day, but…
- he’s been sleeping better at night! He’s leaning closer to becoming a bona-fide “sleep-through-the-nighter”! And he’s got two super cute teeth up top now to boot.
Oldest daughter is still pushing and prodding, but…
- my husband and I have been communicating so much with each other lately as we try to figure this out. We’re learning more about ourselves, each other, and what we want for our family. It’s amazing to think that can still happen after 15 years. And, the sweet moments with daughter H14 seem almost sweeter these days.
Gas is now $3.85 a gallon, but…
- I’m grateful to have a car to put it in. And since it’s been making some clunkety-clunk noises lately, please cross your fingers that I can continue to pay an arm and a leg for gas, instead of an arm and a leg for repairs.
There is never, no never, a change to our local forecast. Hot, humid, horrible, but…
- I give mental prayers of praise at least five times a day for the two huge A/C units we have in our house. I am finding that if you plan your outings just right, you don’t have to suffer TOO much in the heat!
Summer is here, which means a new challenge to my mental health as ALL SEVEN of us are home, but…
- we have a bigger house than we’ve ever had, with plenty of room to spread out. We’ve signed up for swim lessons, the library’s summer reading program, and the local bookstore’s book club for kids. We’ve got the schedule for cheap movies at the theater and the recreational swim hours at the high school pool (indoor!). I should now also have extra hands to help with baby, and I’m brokering a deal with my husband to use some of his work-at-home “flex time” to sometimes take the kids away from the house. I’ll let you know how that goes!
I can’t afford to join a gym and hire a trainer, but…
- I bought my husband the Wii Fit as an early Father’s Day present, and it turns out to be one clever little contraption! Probably not for those of you with an established and rigorous regimen, but it’s great for those of us starting out!
Sometimes it takes a little effort, but feeling and expressing gratitude for all the silver linings in life (and these are really just a FEW of mine!) really helps to brighten one’s outlook. Here’s to you looking for your own silver linings!
