Review and Giveaway: Hal Moose from Build-A-Bear Workshop

With just one week left until Christmas, there is still time to infuse some fuzzy holiday spirit into your home with the help of Build-A-Bear Workshop.

halNew this year to the Build-A-Bear family are brother and sister Hal and Holly Moose, whose adventures at the North Pole are written about in the new holiday storybook Holly and Hal Moose:  Our Uplifting Christmas Adventure.  Sold separately, Holly and Hal are $12 each, and the storybook retails for $15.99.  OR, you can buy Holly and Hall together for $26, and the storybook is included!

I was fortunate enough this morning to receive Hal Moose and the Uplifting Christmas Adventure for review.  Seeing these items of the Storybook Gift Set for myself, I can easily tell you why you might consider adding them to your holiday traditions.

Hal Moose is adorable!  He sparkled with personality the moment we pulled him out of the box.  He is so incredibly soft and squishy, too, which elicited many oohs and ahhs from the kids (including the 14yo!).  The antlers light up with the gentle press of his hoof; my 15mo son was delighted by this fact.  And I appreciate that each of the lights are securely stitched into the toy, and the colors are bright, but muted, so they are not glaring or annoying.  (For moms of young ones – Hal Moose is approved for children 12 months and older.)

It didn’t occur to me until after much snuggling with this cozy guy that a battery must be included somewhere to power the lighted antlers.  To my surprise (and after much looking), I found a solid, secreted velcro pocket on Hal’s side.  Inside was a small battery pack, just near the hip, with an on/off switch.  With some battery-dependent stuffies, they are hard to snuggle without feeling the battery pack right in their tummy.  I love how Hal is built for optimal loves and squeezes without that inconvenience!

With Hal by my side, I read about his adventures in the accompanying storybook.  Holly and Hal Moose:  Our Uplifting Christmas Adventure is a sweet story, not only about the adventure of “saving Christmas,” but also about teamwork, dreaming big, and believing in yourself.  It honestly made me love the little guy even more, and think to myself that we were sure missing out not having Holly here with us!

So there’s my (enthusiastic) review.  What’s this about A GIVEAWAY?  The folks at Build-A-Bear Workshop have given me a $10 Bear Buck gift card to give to one of my lucky readers!  That’s sure to get you on your way to something fuzzy!

It’s a crazy time of year and most of us are short on time, so the only thing you need to do to enter is LEAVE A COMMENT TO THIS POST, making sure to INCLUDE YOUR EMAIL.  That’s it!  No hoops, no extra entries, no answering questions or riddles or what-have-yous.  I will accept entries until midnight, CST, on Sunday, December 21st.  I will notify the winner on Monday morning and get the card in the mail as soon as I get your address information.

Good luck to everyone, and Happy Holidays!

OOOHHHH! You have my attention! My daughter is really into Build a Bear right now. melissaharolds@gmail.com

I was there yesterday with my Aunt. I had saved a coupon for about a month and took it in to use for holiday shopping. I showed the sales clerk what I wanted in the catalog, turned to get the item off the shelf and POOF my coupon disappeared. I was so upset :( The sales ladies were very helpful in looking for it but it wasn’t anywhere in the store. The best we can figure is someone took it off the top of my stroller. So, someone who must have needed it more than me got it. At least that is what I am telling myself so that I am not so upset!

Kiera won’t be old enough for build-a-bear for a few more months, but a bear would make a cute first birthday present! lissastinson@gmail.com

I love Build-a-Bear! They just recently opened up in our city and I’ve been looking for an affordable way to visit there with the boys. This would be it!

Thanks for the reassuring review of Hal’s construction. He’s obviously cute, but it’s good to know he’s also made to handle little people!

I have the only two kids in the universe (or so it seems) who have never been to a Build- a- Bear store or party, even though they are die-hard stuffy lovers. If BAB wants some newbie kiddos to fall in love with their products, we are undoubtedly the family for them!!
