My Hard-Earned Lunch Money

My article for the online parenting magazine, Root & Sprout, went live this morning.  If you go to their MAIN PAGE for January’s issue, you can see a small contribution I made to the “Special Content” section , and my article is the first one listed under the “Blossoms” category.  All section links are listed in the left sidebar on the site.

Fair warning:  the article I wrote is titled “Your Daughter’s First Period.”  Read at your own risk!

Great article! It’s hard for me to believe my daughter is growing up and in need of this guidance, but she already she has questions so we have started having “the talks” about such things. Being open and honest is definitely the way to go.

The article is fantastic! I truly hope in 10 years that I have your wisdom about mothering. Yes, I am a few years away from needing this article in my own home but after a horrible first experience of my own, I realize that I can help my girls to have a better transition. Thanks for the advice!

Fantastic Stacey!!! I have not given any advice to my own girl yet, but I know that I need to start that dialog soon. Loved the article!

Very well written. I hope if I have daughters I’ll do as good of a job with them. I have no idea what to say to my sons in 10 years!

Great article! I can’t imagine being excited about something like that, though, and found it amusing when you closed saying that she is no longer excited about it anymore! Were your girls embarrassed that you wrote about them, or did you keep it on the down-low?
