New Bed, New Diaper, New Man

It used to be that 97% of the time, Toddler Eli would wake up in the morning SOAKED.  The diaper brand that did so well during the day was not mighty enough to see him through the night, and we ended up with a lot of wet jammies and sheets and one big wet son.  Nighttime diapers are insanely expensive, so we finally solved the problem by purchasing a slightly more expensive regular daytime diaper brand, and then just using that type at night.  Problem solved!  Now instead of waking sometime in the 5-am hour because of cold and discomfort, Eli now sleeps until close to 7am every morning.  This is HUGE!

He’s probably also sleeping better because of the fabulous crib our friends are lending to us (thank you, Melissa!).  Remember when his old crib simply fell apart?  Well, for a while we had to put him to bed in a super small pack-n-play, which he would sleep in…for a while.  But if it happened to be the 3% of the time he wasn’t waking up wet, he was still waking up early, probably from a different kind of discomfort.

But for the past two weeks he’s been dry, he’s been in a nice crib, and I’ve been enjoying a little extra time in the mornings.  I know 7am is not very “late” to a lot of moms out there, but with a son who has never shown much of an affinity for sleep, I say “Hallelujah!”

Yeah!! I am so happy for you. I know what those two extra hours of sleep are worth. I am happy the crib is getting good use instead of collecting dust in the garage!

We had to do the same for Aaron. Regular Huggies during the day and Huggies Supremes at night. Also, both my boys magically wake up at 6am and always have. 7am sound like heaven!
