Brotherly Love

I absolutely loved listening to President Obama’s Inaugural Speech today.  I decided on that moment for my Project 365 “capture” of the day, so I just held my camera still and started taking pictures.  You can see a nice collage of today’s images in the Flickr widget on my right sidebar, but I also want to show you this very intriguing picture.  I must have inadvertently captured a slow transition of the tv camera angles, creating this metaphorical composite:

I suppose you could read something kind of creepy into it, but I choose to see it as President Obama speaking to each and every one of us.

On that theme of brotherly love, I also got to witness something very sweet in my own home today.  Here are sons I7 and Eli watching some tv together:

It made me wonder:  if parents did all they could to foster brotherly – and sisterly – love in the walls of their home, if it was something they insisted upon, how much better would this world be?  Because I do think the qualities of love, service, and compassion begin at home.  I was grateful to see it in action today.

I was a bit bummed I missed his speech. They don’t allow us to stream video or audio on our computers at work so I’ll find a written copy of it online tomorrow and read it during lunch. I was able to catch the last few minutes during which a woman was reciting a poem and then the benediction. We have a small cafe in the basement and they had it on. Wish I had thought to go down there earlier.
