Review: Office Max’s InPlace System by Peter Walsh

I was recently given the opportunity to preview some products from Office Max‘s new InPlace System by Peter Walsh, available in stores beginning this week. Peter Walsh is an organization expert, a well-known author, frequent guest on Oprah, and host of the TLC show Clean Sweep. He has long preached the link between the state of our surroundings, and the state of our minds. He says: “The word ‘organize and the word ‘organic’ come from the same place. Organic is to be whole; to be complete. That’s what organization does. Organization actually helps you live a richer, fuller, less stressed life.”

With 7 members in our family, keeping things organized is a *huge* task, and one I often fail at miserably. We have school papers from 4 kids at three different schools, too many magazine subscriptions, books I review, products I review, ever-dreaded bills to pay…it all needs to be put somewhere. When that somewhere is usually a huge pile in the middle of my desk, it’s true – the state of my mind does mirror the unkempt, frustrating state of my surroundings.

The InPlace System is meant to give you a focused, controlled start to meeting your organization needs. All of the products are clear, which plays off Peter’s advice of keeping what you need VISBILE. The products also fit together nicely, and when put in the proper “dashboard”(everything should be within your reach, just like the main controls of your car’s dashboard) of your home office, makes things ACCESSIBLE. Finally, everything is travel-ready, making the products PORTABLE. These three features – visibilty, accessibility, and portability – make the the InPlace System *sooo* fabulous!

The items pictured on the right comprise most of the collection:

  • sticky note wallet
  • desktop sorter
  • document wallet
  • file tote
  • magazine file

as well as

  • durable file folders
  • clip tabs
  • document sleeves

All of the folders and sleeves can be written on with the erasable marker, adding longevity to the products, as they can be used again and again.

My favorite piece in the collection is by far the portable file tote (pictured in the back, with handles). It’s incredibly handy for when you need to take files to the doctor’s office, the library, anywhere! Peter has already said that the collection will grow, but again, this is a strong start to meeting your personal needs for getting organized.

*original post included a giveaway of Office Max products/gift card

My office is the most organized room in the house, Because I spend so much time there, and can’t stand a messy work area – too many years working as a mechanic for that). But these products would help improve even my office.
