Welcome to 2T

MY BABY!  My baby (now almost 22mos) is in (T)oddler clothing!

It finally occured to me while shopping the adorable $4 tees at Target (love you, Target.  call me!) that I was just fooling myself by looking at the 24mo clothing.  A little voice in my head whispered, “Momma, you’re baby’s wearing a T now.”  Sniff, sniff.

He confirmed my suspicions of his impending childhood (vs. the retreating babyhood) by pointing at his chicken strips while we were out to lunch and asking me, “It’s hot?”  PREVIOUSLY SPEACHLESS TODDLER NOW SPEAKING SENTENCES SAY WHAT?  I almost started crying, but my 12yo (who also witnessed the amazing verbal exchange, which my son repeated a few more times) begged asked me not to.

Also during today’s out-and-abouts, he spontaneously shouted “Cow!” from the back seat.  Sure enough, two seconds later we drove by a Chick-fil-A (love you, Chick-fil-A.  call me!) with a huge inflatable cow out front.  My son hollered “Moooo!” at it as we drove by.

He’s an explosion of language and learning these days, and I love the way it catches me by surprise.  I also love the way he looks right this moment, watching a Dora video, wearing his super cute new orange and white striped shirt.  Size 2t, of course.

Why do they have to get so grown up so quickly anyway?

I’m in exactly the same stage as you, except my 22 mo. old has been in 2T’s for awhile cuz he’s gigantic. But the explosion of language is SO FUN! We were able to actually sit and read a book in the doc’s office today and he repeated every other word! I am loving it, it’s so cute.

He was so cute at church. When he came over to see me he said, toes and pointed to them. He then proceeded to point at R and say dad. He said a few other things, but whoever was at the podium at that moment was too loud for me to understand. :D

I noticed his explosion of language at church the Sunday before Father’s Day. Even my hubby noticed and said, “Wow, he is becoming a little boy…not a baby any more” It is a sad time, but I agree it is really fun to watch them learn!

Oh…I know what you mean. Even though my youngest is 3.5 and has been talking for a while, she has just recently started saying her older sister’s name correctly. On one hand I am so excited she is learning and growing. On the other, I miss the baby talk! At least she is very petite and is still easy to cuddle and rock to sleep!! :)
