Lysol’s Send School Germs Packing {Spotlight & Giveaway, ends 9/16}

Oh, the irony.  It is not lost on me.

In August I was contacted with the opportunity to share news of Lysol‘s new Back to School Information Center, complete with their Send School Germs Packing resources, with my readers.  I would have posted about it right away, but…my 2yo has been sick!  First it was (likely) rotavirus (which Lysol is affective against, by the way), now it’s watery eyes, sneezing, and a head full of congestion.  Is it a coincidence that he’s gotten so sick right at the beginning of the school year, when his four siblings are going back and forth between home, school, and activities (and bringing home all sorts of germs)?  Methinks not.

Lysol has teamed up with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NAPNAP) to provide parents with information, tips, and ideas on keeping germs at bay in their online Back to School Information Center.

A tip from the site suggests having your children remove backpacks, shoes, and coats at the door instead of tracking them through the house.  Once they’ve left everything, have them immediately go to the bathroom to wash their hands.  You can use that time to spray down their belongings with Lysol Disinfectant Spray.  We all have our own after-school routines, this 5-minute addition seems easy enough (and well worth the reward!) to work into the afternoon.

If you’d like your kids to get in on the anti-germ efforts, Lysol has also backed the creation of R.B.’s Happy, Healthy Homepage.  Aimed primarily at 6-9 year olds, the site is packed with puzzles, activities, games, and brain-teasers to educated your children in a fun, interactive way.

The Lysol brand has been a “given” for my family ever since our kids were little.  Having five children means that when one gets it, they all get it, so Lysol products are part of the damage control we perform to try and get rid of household germs.  My 2yo will be better before long, and you can bet we’re putting our Lysol to work to make that happen sooner than later (and to help prevent our other kids from getting sick!).

Lysol Disinfectant SprayLysol Disinfecting Wipes

Happily, I have two packs of Lysol products to giveaway to my readers!  Two winners will receive a 12.5oz Lysol Disinfectant Spray and two 40ct canisters of Lysol Disinfecting Wipes to help keep your homes and families healthy this school year.  To enter, please answer in a comment to this post:  what’s one of the first things you do when your kids get sick?  Get some chicken soup?  Buy new toothbrushes?  Wash down all the doorknobs and light switches?  Let me know!

    I put them to bed and then I made them soup. With whatever drink they wanted. I figured any fluids was better than no fluids.

    thanks for the give away.

    When my grandkids get sick the parents send them to my house for babysitting instead of keeping them home,so my husband and I are sick all winter.
