In celebration of the launch of a unique new media company – Moxie Media (unique because it’s the brainchild of six creative women bloggers) – my family was recently visited by the company’s traveling mascot, Moxie Mona.
Moxie Mona is not to be confused with any particular wonder.woman – she has her own style and flair, and was not (as far as I know) an 80′s icon and has never (as far as I know) been the spokeswoman for any cosmetic companies (although look at her – she could totally do that!).
Mona’s first outing as a member of our family was to a Houston Astros baseball game:
After the game, our family took Mona out for a little treat. You know what they say: Everything’s Bigger in Texas!
The next week for my birthday, we decided to bring Mona with us to the Houston Museum of Natural Science. She wowed the crowds with her daring adventures, and got into a scrape or two.
Our family had a great time with Mona during her visit, and people everywhere we went got some free entertainment.
When it was time for her to leave, it became clear how attached our toddler had become to her. Doesn’t this expression just SCREAM “Keep your mitts off my Mona, Momma!”
Follow Moxie Media on Twitter.

Such a fantastic post, Stacey. Thank you!! Through Mona’s adventures, I am discovering that the phrase, everything is bigger in Texas, is really quite true. Holy smokes, you people know how to eat. Between this post and the one on June Cleaver Nirvana, I do believe that I have now seen the world’s largest Swedish Pancake and Brownie.
Simply amazing. I must visit your great state soon, very soon.
