My desire to feed my children healthy, balanced meals has always been much greater than my discipline to actually do so. You want chicken nuggets for dinner again? Hey, if it means you’ll eat, then go for it.
Most of my children are older now, though, and it’s easier to talk them into more sophisticated foods. Now I just have to DO it.
We started several months ago with what seemed like an easy substitute: brown rice for white, whole wheat pasta for white. But for a while there, we needed a step in between to make the transition – I wanted to move away from white, but I wanted the assurance of more nutritious ingredients.
Ronzoni Smart Taste pasta was an easy way to ease into healthier food choices.
Ronzoni Smart Taste pasta is white pasta enriched with fiber and calcium, so it tastes like what my children were used to, but with ingredients I felt a little better about. It’s a good compromise for parents who are working towards changing their family’s meal habits. The Smart Taste line includes five pasta types: elbow, rotini, spaghetti, thin spaghetti, and penne rigati.
Ronzoni has created a funny “SuperMom” extended commercial, playing with the idea of how difficult it can be to get kids to eat healthy. This mom goes all-out, and I wonder how many of us can relate! Enjoy:
Disclosure:
“I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour campaign by Mom Central on behalf of Ronzoni Pasta and received a sample of Ronzoni Smart Taste Pasta (though, honestly, our family was very familiar with the product prior to receiving the sample) to facilitate my review and a $20 thank-you gift certificate.”
