Playmobil Advent – Princess & Unicorn Paradise

51HANSDO3hL__SL500_AA280_Before MomSelect sent our family the Playmobil Advent – Princess & Unicorn Paradise set this month, I was oblivious to the extensive advent options available from Playmobil.  These advent sets come in a variety of themes – police, pirates, fairies, knights, Santa, and yes even the traditional nativity.  Each set comes with an elaborate backdrop and 25 small boxes in which are stored individual Playmobil pieces that create the theme’s scene as the days lead up to Christmas.  It seems that many people collect these sets in order to introduce a fun way to count the days to Christmas, and when the scene is complete, there’s a new toy to be had and enjoyed!

We opened our Princess & Unicorn Paradise set and found many small pieces to assemble; I would say the entire project took about 40 minutes to finish.  And when I say “small” pieces, in some cases the word “tiny” fits better – especially in reference to the many flowers and embellishments meant to improve the scene.  After exercising a great deal of patience, I had to admit that the characters were cute and I knew the whole scene when complete after 25 days would be lovely.  One thing to consider, though, is that the scene – especially because of the backdrop and also the wall-hanging that holds the 25 boxes – will take up quite a bit of room, so be prepared to clear of a large shelf or some table space for this advent to unfold.
