CLOSED: New Children’s Book: Max Spaniel “Funny Lunch” by David Catrow {Review & Giveaway}

Last summer my youngest son and I were tickled to receive the first in a new children’s book series about Max Spaniel, adventure dog extraordinaire.  Author David Catrow has followed that book, entitled “Dinosaur Hunt,” with the second book in the series, “Funny Lunch.”  Again we’ve been lucky enough to review the book, and offer a great giveaway, too!

In “Funny Lunch,” Max – who assures us he in not, in fact, a dog – taps into his entrepreneurial spirit by opening his own diner, and gets himself into quite a messy pickle!  My son loves the silliness of the story and the illustrations.

The book is recommended for ages 4-8, but my son is just 2 1/2 and asks me to read “Funny Lunch” to him several times in one sitting!

    My son loves just about anything by Audry Wood, but especially “King Bidgood’s in the Bathtub.” If you are going to have to read a book over and over, that’s a good one – the artwork cracks me up, especially the expressions on the faces of the people.

    The Boy has only sat through one read-aloud story in his entire life (which happened this week): Baby Minnie’s Treat. He couldn’t care less about the treat at the end–it’s the fact that Baby Minnie is riding in a car and passing other vehicles along the way. And here I’ve been wasting all my time on I Love You, Stinky Face.
