This Weekend Is My Lullaby

During a fabulous talk at church on Mother’s Day, a speaker told us this humorous – and ohsotrue – quote:

“The lullaby is the spell whereby the mother attempts to transform herself back from an ogre to a saint.”   – James Fenton

This weekend will be my lullaby – hopefully transforming the mood that has oppressed me this week into something much lighter and brighter.  I’m awfully tired of being an ogre.

I’ve been rather behind in my google reader, hence the late comment. But I just had to say that this quote really hits home! Sometimes when I sing I Am a Child of God with “parents kind and dear,” my heart just aches at my ogreish behavior from the day and I do plead in my heart that they feel my love and I’m transformed back into a saint. Some nights Sammi won’t say I love you back and I feel like a failure and other nights she does and my heart soars again. But each day is a new chance and I try to sing more often :)
