One eskimO is a critically-aclaimed British group just making it’s way to American radio. The adult alternative band is made up of singer-songwriter Kristian Leontiou and includes musicians Pete Rinaldi (guitar), Jamie Sefton (bass, horns) and Adam Falkner (drums).
The most accurate description I’ve seen of One eskimO’s sound comes from Billboard Magazine, which calls their music “…catchy, ambient pop.” My own daughters, while listening to One eskimO’s self-titled debut with me, said, “They remind me of a cross between Jack Johnson and Jason Mraz.” Sprinkle in a little Coldplay, and I totally agree.
In the few days I’ve had the CD, the songs have really been growing on me. Immediate favorites include “Hometime,” “Chosen One,” and “Amazing.” But I find myself grooving along more and more to “Astronauts,” “Kandi,” and “Simple Day,” too. Give me another week and I’m sure I’ll be looking forward to the start of every track.
