Many Branches, One Tree (#mbotree): Sarah Stewart Holland of Salt & Nectar

I had the great pleasure of meeting Sarah Stewart Holland at Bloggy Boot Camp in Atlanta last year. I think our “introduction” actually came via Twitter, where Sarah admitted that she kinda sorta liked the Twilight-inspired session I gave, even though she was not a fan of the books. I tweeted back to her that (confession time!) I didn’t really like the books either. After a tentative “What about Harry Potter?,” and the discovery that we are both huge fans, a lovely online friendship was born.

Sarah has a wicked sense of humor and is always a lot of fun to read. I love the passion she has for her home state of Kentucky, and loved learning that – although she doesn’t flaunt it – she studied law and lived the big city life in Washington DC. She’s beautiful, smart, funny, intelligent, and a great writer. But the best thing? She’s super nice on top of it all. I’m excited in this newest edition of the Many Branches, One Tree project to introduce you to Sarah Stewart Holland.

“Humor, Honesty, and lots of Oprah worship.”

Is there a particular “niche” you identify most with online? Not really – style, crafts, recipes, confessionals. My co-blogger and I do a little bit of everything.

What are 3 other blogs you love or read on a regular basis? The Happiest Mom, Simple Mom, and Making It Lovely.

What does your family think of your blog? They love it! My husband has always been very supportive. He should be since he’s the one that introduced me to blogging back in 2003!

What are some of your hobbies besides blogging? Knitting, Reading, Is Downton Abbey a hobby?

Do you work outside of blogging? Yes, I teach a course at the local community college and am the Associate Editor of our local magazine, Paducah Life.

Name an experience you’ve had (good or bad) that might have never happened if not for your blogging/online activity. I’ve had so many awesome opportunities in the past year because of S+N I don’t know where to begin. I probably never would have gotten the job at Paducah Life without seeing myself as a professional writer first. Not to mention I’ve been featured in USA Today and Parents magazine! It’s been such rush!

What are 3 things you would not miss if you stopped blogging tomorrow? The deadlines. The writers block. The competition.

What are 3 things you would miss if you stopped blogging tomorrow? My readers. The creative outlet. The competition.

Do you have any “off limits” topics when it comes to blogging? Not really, but my husband does!

What’s the nicest thing someone has said about you as a blogger, your blog itself, or your online activity? I’ve had a couple different people describe me as a “prolific” writer. It was such an amazing compliment and I was completely beaming. Of course, I try to be humble…except the “Prolific Writer” T-shirt I had made. That doesn’t count right? Right?!?
