CLOSED: Peanut Butter 4 Breakfast {Spotlight & #Giveaway}

I love to start my day with a bit of protein at breakfast; it helps to give me a boost of energy from the get-go, and I’m typically able to go longer into the day before I get hungry again.

I might scramble some eggs, make a protein-infused smoothie, or have a bit of granola with milk. But one of my favorite ways to include protein in my breakfast is to top whole wheat toast with peanut butter.

According to the National Peanut Board, peanuts have 8 grams of protein per serving (more than any other nut!) and are packed with more than 30 essential nutrients. A powerhouse food like that certainly deserves to be used more creatively than on my little ol’ pieces of toast, and right now the National Peanut Board is running the Peanut Butter 4 Breakfast campaign to show us how.

Peanut Butter for Breakfast

To help make mornings easier, the National Peanut Board is equipping peanut butter fans with nutritious breakfast tips and recipes at www.PB4Breakfast.com. Visitors are also encouraged to vote for their favorite peanut butter breakfast dishes. For every vote, America’s peanut farmers will donate $5, up to $10,000, to help serve a nutritious breakfast to the hungry.

I took a look at the Peanut Butter 4 Breakfast page and was surprised by the ways I could incorporate peanut butter into some easy breakfast recipes. My favorite? Adding peanut butter to a fresh blueberry smoothie.

Right now when you vote for your favorite peanut butter breakfast recipe, $5 will be donated to non-profit organizations across the country that help to feed the nation’s hungry. You can also share how you like peanut butter for breakfast on the Peanut Butter Fanatic wall for a chance to win peanut butter samples and a $50 VISA gift card. A winner will be chosen from those Facebook entries on March 10.

    Almost every single day… I have 2 Eggo Waffles with Peanut Butter, and a drizzle of honey (makes it sweet and satisfying)!  I have allergies, but not to anything in this breakfast and so I really enjoy it.  It’s always my go to meal when I need something that is totally allergen (for me) free.
