How a 4yo Spends Two Weeks in Hotels and Four Hours in an Airplane

No doubt this 2400-mile move from Texas to Oregon was hard on my whole family. But I was particularly concerned about our 4yo son Eli. I was worried about how he would sleep, how he would eat, how we would keep him busy. But mostly, I was worried about how I was going to keep things as normal as possible for him, and keep him happy and healthy.

Over the course of 2 weeks of travel, Eli…

slept pretty well…

sometimes woke a little groggy…

stayed plenty busy…

but also took advantage of down time…

Then of course he lived like a King in First Class on our flight…

I was really pleased with how he did during these two weeks of transition, but one thing definitely suffered: his eating schedule and overall nutrition. We tried to buy groceries and eat “in house” as often as we could, but there were many fast food and on-the-spot meals over that two-week time period. I was grateful that just before we moved, we were sent samples of Culturelle Kids, a probiotic supplement for kids.

KidsPackets Culturelle

Culturelle ran a study and discovered that 47% of families in their survey had experienced some kind of illness during vacation and travel. That could have so easily been us – we were out of our element, sleeping in different beds, keeping long hours, crossing paths with a variety of germs, and eating irregularly.

Culturelle Kids probiotic works by boosting the “healthy” germs in a child’s digestive tract, which then helps to:

  • improve a child’s natural defense systems
  • reduce digestive upset.

The product comes in packets for younger children (25-50 pounds) and chewables for older children (50-100 pounds).

A few more quick facts – Culturelle Kids:

  • is the #1 pediatrician-recommended probiotic for children,
  • contains the probiotic strain Lactobacillus GG,
  • is dairy-free and gluten-free, and
  • is flavorless, which can be a relief when trying to administer to picky kids.

A child’s tummy problems can pretty much stop any family in their tracks, and I know it would have derailed many of our plans if Eli had become sick. It’s not like we could have gone home early or rescheduled our trip – we were in the middle of a cross-country move! I’m grateful he did so well and remained healthy despite the stress and circumstances.
